What is Reiki?
Reiki is a non-invasive, complementary and alternative healing practice that promotes overall health and well-being. It is practiced all over the world, including over 300 major hospitals and medical centers across the US. Originating in Japan, Reiki works with the animal or human to facilitate their own healing response. The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words: rei, meaning "universal"; and ki, meaning "life energy".
What is Pet Reiki Energy Healing?
Animals are highly intuitive and sensitive to the energies of their surroundings. Reiki is a healing energy that can be used alone or as a complement to other healing practices, balancing the energy patterns and strengthening the animal's natural healing systems. When the animal's healing are at optimum performance, the body, mind and spirit can heal itself. Reiki can serve animals in the following way
Maintaining health and well being through regular sessions.
Aiding in pain management for animals who are ill or injured, as well as post surgery.
Promoting relaxation and calm for animals with emotional issues, anxiety, separation anxiety or stress (including pre-surgery).
Increasing bond between human and animal - a great way to ease an animal's transition to a new home environment or to enhance training your pet.
Bringing peace and comfort to a dying pet by easing the transition into death.
Note: Reiki is not a substitute for taking your pet to your veterinarian. If your animal needs immediate assistance, please contact your veterinarian immediately.
How did you get started with giving pets Reiki energy healing?
I became a Reiki level 1 practitioner in 2007 and worked with people and occasionally with my own cats when they were sick or distressed because of introducing another cat into the home. I saw how easily they melted into the healing energy being offered and that it really seemed to help them feel more calm and get healthier faster.
Then in 2013, my cat Rocky became deathly ill. The vets couldn't figure out what was causing him to lose the ability to walk, shed alot of his hair and eventually only be able to lift his head enough to eat, but not sit up. He was only able to get up and use the bathroom once a day. He would eat if we held his food for him.
We made the decision to do our best to nurse him as best as we could and I gave him Reiki every day, sometimes multiple times a day. It took about one month, and finally one day I saw him sit up. Within a week, he was slowly and carefully walking around the house. Within 3 weeks, he was back to normal. I feel Reiki energy healing saved his life. Now, I want to help other pets that have anxiety issues, are recovering from surgeries, chronic conditions or injuries to receive this calm and healing energy.
Which pets do you work with?
I focus my pet practice on dogs and cats, but all animals can benefit from Reiki. Pets can live long healthy lives through medical treatments for chronic illnesses, surgeries and cancer treatments. Reiki Energy Healing can support healing, calmness and recovery.
What can I expect in a session?
I do all sessions in the pet's home where they already feel safe and comfortable. Each session is 30 minutes long. During the 30 minutes, I will connect with your pet, open a Reiki healing space where they can choose to connect with me however they want, either by direct touch or a short distance Reiki. Your pet can move around if they choose so there may be an ebb and flow of contact, movement and relaxation. I let your pet decide when they have received what they need and release my expectations about how the results of the session will manifest. I thank them for being co-creators of this healing and end the session.
How much does it cost?
Just $30 for 30 minutes.
